Winchester Road leads north from The Square towards the A32 and the road to Bishop's Waltham and Winchester. It is one of the main routes into and out of the village and carries traffic heading north. The road has a mix of housing along its length, with period properties near The Square giving way to later development further out. Some of the larger houses in the village are found along Winchester Road, set in substantial plots. The road climbs gently as it leaves the village, with views opening up across the surrounding countryside. Winchester Road connects Wickham to the wider Meon Valley and to the A32 trunk road, which provides the main north-south route through this part of Hampshire.
