High Street
Street guide, Wickham
The High Street runs east from The Square and connects the village centre to the residential areas beyond. The street has a mix of commercial and residential properties, with some of the older buildings near The Square and more modern housing further east. The High Street carries traffic heading towards Southwick and the lanes to the east of the village. Near The Square, the street has period buildings that form part of the conservation area, including some attractive Georgian houses with brick facades. The street is one of the main routes through the village and carries a steady flow of traffic during the day. Further from the centre, the character becomes more residential, with houses set back from the road behind front gardens.
