Chesapeake Mill
Heritage, Wickham
A watermill on Bridge Street built in 1820 using timbers from the captured American frigate USS Chesapeake, taken by HMS Shannon in 1813. The mill is one of the most unusual buildings in Hampshire, combining industrial architecture with naval history. It now operates as a restaurant and events venue, but the building's structure still shows the heavy timbers that came from the warship. The mill stands beside the River Meon and is Wickham's most recognisable landmark.
